Executive Council Act
Under the authority of sections 5 and 17 of the Executive Council Act, the Lieutenant Governor in Council is pleased to:
i) establish an Office of Immigration and Multiculturalism within the Department of Human Resources, Labour and Employment to oversee implementation of the Provincial Immigration Strategy, effective April 1, 2007, with the Office to include 13 permanent positions as outlined in Annex 1 of the Minister’s Submission, with classification of positions and finalization of the organizational structure to be done in collaboration with the Public Service Secretariat;
ii) transfer responsibility for the administration of the Provincial Nominee Program from the Department of Innovation, Trade and Rural Development to the Office of Immigration and Multiculturalism within the Department of Human Resources, Labour and Employment, effective April 1, 2007; and
iii) transfer responsibility for multiculturalism from the Intergovernmental Affairs Secretariat to the Office of Immigration and Multiculturalism within the Department of Human Resources, Labour and Employment, effective April 1, 2007.
