Automobile Insurance Act
Under the authority of section 61 of the Automobile Insurance Act and section 3.1(8) of the Insurance Companies Act, the Lieutenant Governor in Council is pleased to extend retroactively the term of Thomas Johnson’s appointment as Insurance Consumer Advocate from June 24, 2005 until the appointment is terminated by the Premier and the Minister of Government Services. Specific project assignments for which the Consumer Advocate will be paid will be approved in advance by the Minister of Government Services. A summary report on the activities and costs associated with the Consumer Advocate will be provided to the Minister and the Premier at the end of each fiscal year commencing April, 2007. The annual report submitted by the Consumer Advocate will be tabled in the House of Assembly by the Minister of Government Services. In addition, the Consumer Advocate is directed to prepare and file a report with the Minister of Government Services, in a form satisfactory to the Minister, outlining the details of the expenses incurred and the work performed within 45 days after the date of an order of the Public Utilities Board or an order of the court upon appeal of the Public Utilities Board order or a report of the Public Utilities Board following a review. The Minister of Government Services shall then submit such report to the House of Assembly within 15 days of receipt if the House is sitting or if the House is not sitting, within 15 days of the opening of the House.
