Under the authority of section 3(2)(j) of the Public Tender Act, the Lieutenant Governor in Council is pleased to authorize the Department of Transportation and Works to issue a Request for Proposals for provision of a ferry service between St. Barbe/Blanc Sablon on the basis of:

 i) The contract will be for a three (3) year period with an option for renewal by Government up to an additional two (2) years, or any part thereof;

 ii) Proponents will have the option of advancing proposals based on either a one (1) or two (2) vessel service configuration;

iii) The operating season for the vessel(s) will be defined as mid-April to mid-January, as per current schedule, with Government retaining the option to lengthen the season to year-round after 2009 and completion of Phase III of the Trans Labrador Highway;

iv) Such other terms and conditions as the Minister of Transportation and Works may consider necessary.
