Under the authority of section 117 of the Public Utilities Act, the Lieutenant Governor in Council is pleased to appoint Mr. Thomas Johnson as Consumer Advocate effective March 31, 2006, to represent the interests of domestic and general service consumers on terms acceptable to the Minister of Justice, after consultation with the Board of Commissioners of Public Utilities, for the purposes of participating in the following three applications:

 

i) Application by Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro under the Public Utilities Act for approval of the recovery through the Rate Stabilization Plan of the costs of purchasing 1% instead of 2% sulphur content fuel for use at Holyrood’s generating station;

 

ii) Application by Hydro for the approval of certain rules, regulations and rates pertaining to the supply of electrical power and energy to its industrial customer, Aur Resources Inc. and;

 

iii) Application of Corner Brook Pulp and Paper Limited pursuant to section 28 of the Board of Commissioners of Public Utilities Regulations, 1996 seeking an Order modifying the Rate Stabilization Plan as approved by Board Order No. P.U. 40 (2003). In accordance with the Public Utilities Act, all costs will be borne initially by the Board and subsequently assessed if deemed appropriate by the Board to the applicants.
