Orders in Council Database

Under the authority of section 3.1 of the Insurance Companies Act, the Lieutenant Governor in Council is pleased to direct the Board of Commissioners of Public Utilities to undertake a Review of automobile, homeowners, commercial and marine insurance in the province, along the lines of the terms of reference on file with the Clerk of the Executive Council, subject to:

i) the Department of Government Services seeking input on the terms of reference from the Consumer Advocate who may be appointed by the Lieutenant Governor in Council pursuant to section 3.1(8) of the Insurance Companies Act, the Insurance Bureau of Canada, the Law Society of Newfoundland, and the Insurance Brokers Association of Newfoundland and Labrador;

 ii)  the Premier and the Minister of Government Services approving the final terms of reference; and

iii) a copy of the final Terms of Reference being forwarded to the Clerk of the Executive Council.
