Orders in Council Database

Under the authority of section 11 of the Executive Council Act and section 7 of the Intergovernmental Affairs Act, the Lieutenant Governor in Council is pleased to authorize the Minister of Human Resources, Labour and Employment, the Minister of Education, and the Premier as Minister Responsible for Intergovernmental Affairs to:

i) sign the “Canada/Newfoundland and Labrador Memorandum of Understanding on Post-Graduation Employment for Foreign Students” with Citizenship and Immigration Canada, substantially as set forth in Annex A of the Ministers’ submission on file with the Clerk of the Executive Council, and with the objective of allowing recently graduated foreign students from Newfoundland and Labrador publicly-funded post-secondary institutions to work up to two years in their field of study in the province as opposed to one year as now permitted; and

ii) extend the Memorandum of Understanding without returning to Cabinet, providing there are no substantive policy changes.
