Under the authority of sections 30(1) and 85(2) of the federal Youth Criminal Justice Act and section 16 of the Young Persons Offences Act, the Lieutenant Governor in Council is pleased to designate the St. John’s Youth Detention Unit, Fort Townshend, as a place of temporary detention and secure custody for young persons effective April 1, 2003.
