Under the authority of sections 5 and 17 of the Executive Council Act, the Lieutenant Governor in Council is pleased to create the Department of Seniors, Wellness and Social Development, effective September 30, 2014, consisting of some of those functions formerly within the Department of Tourism, Culture and Recreation; some of those functions formerly within the Department of Health and Community Services; some of those functions formerly within the Department of Advanced Education and Skills; and including responsibility for the Newfoundland and Labrador Housing Corporation, with two branches as follows:
 a) Seniors, Aging and Social Development with Responsibility for the Disability Policy Office; and
 b) Health Promotion, Wellness and Sport.
