Under the authority of sections 5 and 17 of the Executive Council Act and the Prerogative of the Crown, the Lieutenant-Governor in Council is pleased to create the Department of Environment and Climate Change, effective April 8, 2021, to consist of all those functions formerly within the Department of Environment, Climate Change and Municipalities except the municipal affairs and provincial affairs functions in the Municipal Affairs branch and including the labour relations and labour standards functions formerly within the Department of Immigration, Skills and Labour, with two branches as follows:

a) Climate Change, and 

b) Environment and Labour.
