Under the authority of sections 5 and 17 of the Executive Council Act and the

Prerogative of the Crown, the Lieutenant-Governor in Council is pleased to create

the Department of Rural Economic Development, effective July 15, 2025, to include

functions related to the facilitation of interdepartmental activities supporting rural

economic development and to consist of all those functions related to labour formerly

within the Department of Environment and Climate Change, with two branches as

follows:

a) Rural Economic Development; and

b) Labour,
