Orders in Council Database

Under the authority of sections 5 and 17 of the Executive Council Act and the

Prerogative of the Crown, the Lieutenant-Governor in Council is pleased to restructure

the Department of Justice and Public Safety, effective February 20, 2026, to consist of

all those functions formerly within the Department of Justice and Public Safety with the

exception of all those functions related to emergency services, with five branches as

follows:

a) Corporate and Strategic Services,

b) Courts and Justice Services,

c) Legal Services,

d) Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, and

e) Public Safety and Correctional Services.
