Under the authority of subsection 26(4) of the Financial Administration Act, and upon the written recommendation of the Treasury Board, the Lieutenant Governor in Council is pleased to authorize the Department of Transportation and Works to pre-commit funds in the amount of $15,170,800 against its 2016-17 budgetary appropriations and in the amount of $10,039,200 against its 2017-18 budgetary appropriations, for the provision of marine service to the North Coast of Labrador and the Labrador Straits as follows:
a) $5,636,500 for 2016-17 and $4,754,000 for 2017-18 to extend the current contract with Labrador Marine Inc. for the provision of passenger/vehicle service to the Labrador Straits, via the MV Apollo;
b) $4,403,000 for 2016-17 to extend the current contract with Labrador Marine Inc. for the provision of freight service to the North Coast of Labrador, via the MV Astron;
c) $2,579,400 for 2016-17 and $2,656,800 for 2017-18 to extend the current contract with Nunatsiavut Marine Inc. for the provision of passenger/freight service to the North Coast of Labrador, via the MV Northern Ranger; and
d) $2,551,900 for 2016-17 and $2,628,400 for 2017-18 to extend the current contract with Nunatsiavut Marine Inc. for the provision of shore based administration services for freight service to the North Coast of Labrador.
