Under the authority of sections 5 and 17 of the Executive Council Act and the Prerogative of the Crown, the Lieutenant Governor in Council is pleased  to restructure Executive Council to create, effective October 19, 2012, the Office of Public Engagement within Executive Council, consisting of all those functions of the Rural Secretariat and the Volunteer and Non Profit Secretariat of the Executive Council, all those functions associated with the role of Minister for Youth Engagement formerly with the Department of Advanced Education and Skills, all those functions associated with the Strategic Partnership Initiative formerly with the Department of Innovation, Business and Rural Development, and all those functions of the Access to Information and Protection of Privacy Office formerly with the Department of Justice.
