Under the authority of sections 5 and 17 of the Executive Council Act, the Lieutenant Governor in Council is pleased to create the Department of Municipal and Intergovernmental Affairs, effective October 9, 2013, consisting of all of those functions formerly within the Department of Municipal Affairs, including the agency known as Fire and Emergency Services – Newfoundland and Labrador, and some of those functions formerly within the Intergovernmental and Aboriginal Affairs Secretariat, with 4 branches as follows:
a) Municipal Engineering and Planning,
b) Municipal Support and Policy,
c) Employment Support, and
d) Intergovernmental Affairs.
